A non-destructive, non-contact, quality test of critical current for Ag-BiSCCO tape
نویسندگان
چکیده
An accurate noncontact method of characterizing Ag-BiSCCO tape is reported, using the trapped field, , of a field-cooled tape. The dimensions of the tape make it possible to calculate in closed form a very simple expression, relating trapped field to transport current. Short lengths of tape, 4 (cm), are used to experimentally confirm the model. The model applies to any length of tape for which length is greater than 5 times the tape width. A schematic of a proposed test apparatus is presented which should permit on-line testing for magnitude of the current, and for cracks, while the tape is in motion during production.

Design of Nondestructive System for Hardness of Carbonitrided Steel Parts Using Eddy Current Testing Method: Case study on the Tappet Parts
In this paper, a non-destructive eddy current test system was designed to evaluate the surface hardness of the carbonitrided steel parts. For this purpose, various samples of the tappet were used after the surface hardening and grinding operations as control samples and, if necessary, were subjected to destructive and non-destructive tests. Microstructural studies were performed with a microsco...

The conventional eddy current method for non-destructive inspection of welding joints has limitations that can examine defects to a certain depth below the surface of the sample and is not suitable for determining deep defects. This limitation can be overcome using the SQUID superconducting sensors. The nonstoichiometric composition of YBCO due to its superconducting temperature and desired cri...

متن کاملThe Current Distribution in Bi-2223/Ag HTS Conductors: Comparing Hall Probe and Magnetic Knife
We analyzed the current distribution in three Bi-2223/Ag tapes with different filament lay-out, comparing the results of magnetic knife and Hall probe experiments. Detailed knowledge of the current distribution can be useful for the diagnostics of HTS conductors. The lateral current distribution was measured with the non-destructive magnetic knife technique and used to calculate the correspondi...
متن کاملQUALITY CONTROL OF PRECIPITATION HARDENED ALUMINIUM ALLOY PARTS VIA EDDY-CURRENT NONDESTRUCTIVE EVALUATION
Precipitation hardening is the most common method in the strengthening of aluminium alloys. This method relies on the decrease of solid solubility with temperature reduction to produce fine precipitations which impede the movement of dislocations. The quality control of aluminium alloy specimens is an important concern of engineers. Among different methods, non-destructive techniques are the...
